Make me go round

March 21st, 2008

It’s not summer time yet, but this might help hold you over till it comes. You will need a microphone attached to your computer fully appreciate this one. If you don’t have one, don’t worry you can just click. If you do have a microphone, make sure its enabled so you can use it in flash, (there should be a pop-up), then just blow into you mic!

ActionScript Art

January 30th, 2008

This is something I’ve wanted to explore for a while now, and plan to find time to do more in the future. These images are created in the flash environment through code. A photograph is used as a base, and then through the ActionScript language I am analyzing the colour of that photograph to create a new image. The first two are created from the same image using slightly different equations, while the third is a different photo. The results are interesting.

ABCs of Typography

November 30th, 2007

I have been working on a ABC book over the last couple of weeks, that explores the elements of typography. For example G = grid, U = uppercase, and so on. This is my cover design for that book as well as a sample image from one of the spreads. While Flash does occupy a lot of my time, I am a lover of design in general, and it can be really refreshing to work on these kinds of projects.

Snowboard

July 12th, 2007

This piece’s inspiration is root from the Dr.No (James Bond) title sequence, which was designed by the very talented Maurice Binder. The title sequence is one of my all time favorite motion graphic pieces, and it was done almost entirely with circles and text. So based on that, I limited myself entirely to circles on this project. While researching other snow board designs out there, I saw some fantastic work, but noticed that the majority of them were really complicated designs, with a lot going on in them. So with this I really wanted to challenge that and create an equally interesting design, but maintain simplicity within it.

A Self-Portrait

July 11th, 2007

Here is a self portrait I have been working on for the last little while. This was done in the same program as my T shirt Design. (Adobe Illustrator) I am happy with the final result of this piece, overall it turned out better than I had expected, as I have relatively little experience with the program. With this piece I really wanted to do something different than your typical self portrait. Anyways I hope you enjoy it too!
